Our Beliefs: Guiding Our Faith and Community
We are rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Wesleyan tradition, our beliefs provide the compass for our spiritual journey and guide us in our worship, fellowship, and service. We invite you to explore and embrace these foundational beliefs that define who we are as a church family.
Our Belief in the Triune God
At Willington United Methodist Church, we believe in the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We affirm the eternal and loving nature of God, who created the universe, sustains all things, and invites us into a personal relationship with Him. Our beliefs celebrate the mystery and unity of the three persons of the Trinity, guiding our understanding of God’s nature and His work in the world.
Our Belief in Scripture as God’s Inspired Word
We hold the Holy Bible as the inspired and authoritative Word of God. Our beliefs affirm the Scriptures as the primary source of divine revelation, guiding us in matters of faith and practice. Through the Bible, we encounter God’s story of redemption, His teachings, and His call to live as faithful followers of Christ. We study and meditate on Scripture, allowing it to shape our beliefs, values, and actions.
Our Belief in Salvation by Grace through Faith
At the heart of our beliefs is the understanding that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, but through Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection, we find forgiveness, reconciliation, and new life. Our beliefs affirm that salvation is available to all who repent, believe, and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Our Belief in the Power of the Holy Spirit
We embrace the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the church. Our beliefs affirm that the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, guides us into truth, empowers us for service, and nurtures our spiritual growth. The Spirit equips us with spiritual gifts to edify the body of Christ and empowers us to be witnesses of God’s love and grace in the world.
Our Belief in the Universal Church and Communion of Saints
We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, which transcends denominational boundaries and encompasses all believers across time and space. Our beliefs celebrate the communion of saints, acknowledging the rich heritage of faith and the fellowship we share with Christians around the world. We value unity in diversity, embracing a spirit of ecumenism and collaboration with fellow believers.
Embracing Our Beliefs, Growing in Faith Together
At Willington United Methodist Church, our beliefs serve as a compass, guiding our faith and shaping our community. We invite you to embrace these beliefs, join us in worship, and journey with us as we grow in faith together. Let us embody the love of Christ, share His message of hope, and be agents of transformation in our world. Together, let us live out our beliefs, glorify God, and impact lives for His kingdom’s sake.
