Our Belief in the Triune God

At Willington United Methodist Church, we believe in the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We affirm the eternal and loving nature of God, who created the universe, sustains all things, and invites us into a personal relationship with Him. Our beliefs celebrate the mystery and unity of the three persons of the Trinity, guiding our understanding of God’s nature and His work in the world.

Our Belief in Scripture as God’s Inspired Word

What is a Presbyterian Church? - Christian Bible Colleges and Universities OnlineWe hold the Holy Bible as the inspired and authoritative Word of God. Our beliefs affirm the Scriptures as the primary source of divine revelation, guiding us in matters of faith and practice. Through the Bible, we encounter God’s story of redemption, His teachings, and His call to live as faithful followers of Christ. We study and meditate on Scripture, allowing it to shape our beliefs, values, and actions.

Our Belief in Salvation by Grace through Faith

At the heart of our beliefs is the understanding that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, but through Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection, we find forgiveness, reconciliation, and new life. Our beliefs affirm that salvation is available to all who repent, believe, and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Our Belief in the Power of the Holy Spirit

We embrace the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the church. Our beliefs affirm that the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, guides us into truth, empowers us for service, and nurtures our spiritual growth. The Spirit equips us with spiritual gifts to edify the body of Christ and empowers us to be witnesses of God’s love and grace in the world.

Our Belief in the Universal Church and Communion of Saints

We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, which transcends denominational boundaries and encompasses all believers across time and space. Our beliefs celebrate the communion of saints, acknowledging the rich heritage of faith and the fellowship we share with Christians around the world. We value unity in diversity, embracing a spirit of ecumenism and collaboration with fellow believers.
