Keeping Safe

It is of utmost importance that all children and volunteers that work with children are kept safe while at Wadsworth United Methodist Church or church sponsored events.

Therefore,

  • All volunteers will take child protection training, fill out an application to work with children/youth, have references checked and take ongoing trainings.
  • First aid and CPR and choking training is also made available to all volunteers and is required for staff to have.
  • First aid kits are located throughout the church and are taken on offsite outings.
  • Emergency medical forms and permission slips must be signed by a parent or guardian for all offsite outings.
  • We have a church wide Child Protection Policy to keep all children and volunteers safe.
  • We have developed a church wide discipline plan that is followed by all leaders for the safety and for providing a positive environment for all children.
  • All children, infant-4th grade must be signed in and out at all church events where a parent is not present in the room.
  • Beepers are provided for parents who have children in the nursery to alert them immediately if needed.
  • Policies are in place and practiced for severe weather, fire, lost child, and other emergency procedures.
